Questions You Should Be Asking and Answers You Need to Know

Q:
Are the scholarships good for all campuses and programs?
A:
Yes, scholarships may be used at the Lehi, UT or Dallas, TX campuses, or Devmountain campuses for any Devmountain program, including Remote.
Q:
Will applying for a scholarship get me into a Devmountain program?
A:
Scholarship applications are different from program applications and being awarded a scholarship is not a guarantee of acceptance into a Devmountain program. Students who want to attend Devmountain will have to complete an application for their chosen program.
Q:
How long are scholarships good for?
A:
Scholarship recipients must apply for, and be accepted into, a Devmountain program that begins within 120 days of notification of scholarship reward—if a granted scholarship is not used within this time period, it will expire. If you’re having trouble using your scholarship at a time that works for you, reach out to admissions@devmountain.com to work out a plan.
Q:
If I win the scholarship, how will I be notified?
A:
Students will be notified of reward by email from a member of the Devmountain admissions team. (We might call or something too, but we’ll always send an email so you have written acknowledgment of your reward.)
Q:
How old do I need to be?
A:
Scholarship applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Q:
Can I give my scholarship to anyone else?
A:
Nope, sorry. Scholarships are non-transferrable. In the event that the winner renounces their scholarship, Devmountain may award it to the next highest scoring applicant.
Q:
Can the scholarship be combined with tuition discounts?
A:
Yes, except for the Breaking Barriers Scholarship! Occasionally we offer discounted tuition that can be combined with your scholarship, up to, but not exceeding, the full tuition for the program cohort.
Q:
How are scholarship recipients chosen?
A:
All scholarship applications (except the Breaking Barriers Scholarship) will be reviewed by at least three members of the Devmountain Scholarship Selection committee, made up of members from various Devmountain departments. Reviewers will not see the applicants’ names, addresses, ages, or any other identifying information. Each reviewer will cast two votes for applications based on the candidates’ answers to the questions in the application form. The applicant receiving the most votes is awarded the scholarship. In the event of a tie, the recipient will be selected at random from those entries tied for votes.
Q:
How long does it take to review applications?
A:
We typically have scholarship applications scored and graded within a week of the application deadline. If you haven’t found out about if you’ve earned the scholarship within two weeks of application, please contact admissions@devmountain.com.
Q:
What if I don’t win the scholarship?
A:
Damn, we’re sorry. The truth is we have more people wanting scholarships than we are able to award, but the silver lining is that there are third-party lenders who have loans specifically for Devmountain students. Every year hundreds of Devmountain students use these lenders to make their education dreams a reality instead of utilizing code bootcamp scholarships or code bootcamp grants.
